Zechariah 13:1-5

The first part of this Chapter describes the end time, as evidenced by the phrase, “in that Day.” Verses 7 is quoted in the New Testament as fulfilled in Christ’s betrayal.

1 “In that day there will be a spring opened to the house of David and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, for sin and for uncleanness.

Zechariah 13:1
In that Day – this expression, which also appears in verse 2, and 4, always identifies the Day of the LORD, beginning with the prophet Isaiah.

a spring opened – this spring is of course, the water of baptism that will cleanse the House of David, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

2 It will come to pass in that day, says YHVH of Hosts, that I will cut off the names of the idols out of the land, and they will no more be remembered; and also I will cause the prophets and the spirit of impurity to pass out of the land.

Zechariah 13:2
the names of the idols – this is the end time purification of New Jerusalem.

3 It will happen that, when anyone still prophesies, then his father and his mother who bore him will tell him, ‘You must die, because you speak lies in the name of YHVH;’ and his father and his mother who bore him will stab him when he prophesies. 4 It will happen in that day, that the prophets will each be ashamed of his vision, when he prophesies; neither will they wear a hairy mantle to deceive: 5 but he will say, ‘I am no prophet, I am a tiller of the ground; for I have been made a bondservant from my youth.’

Zechariah 13:3-5
You speak lies in the name of YHVH – as in Zechariah 5:4, the flying scroll that enters the house of “everyone who swears falsely by My name.”‘

I am no prophet – only the Word of God will prevail, that is the revelation of God, through the Bible. See also Deuteronomy 18:15-22, “the LORD your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me in your midst”. . . “but the prophet who presumes to speak a word in My name . . . shall die.”
